I made a comment on another blog, not a bad comment - actually it was quite compassionate. But, as it turns out this person really doesn't want people to comment on her posts. Makes me wonder then, why not turn off the commenting feature? Anywho, I was a bit taken back by her tongue lashing to all those who did leave comments. She said we didn't know her, didn't understand her situation and that she didn't need people telling her how to feel. I suppose she's right, we fellow bloggers don't know her. It got me thinking about the reasons people blog. I know why I do, I have so much to say - yet so few people to listen. Maybe it's the same for most people. Maybe some of us blog out of boredom, frustration, or in the hopes of being discovered - for something more than we are. The reasons I'm sure, are all different. Regardless of why you come here, one thing remains the same, typing your thoughts onto a web-o-sphere journal is inviting someone into your life that you otherwise would never extend that courtesy. If you don't want people looking - close the shade.
Oh, and I like your new blog. It's clearly a craze at the moment.
Don't worry about that person, it says more about them than you.
I didn't think about it before but I guess I blog too because I have a lot to say and not enough people to listen. Quite sad really. But it is also a good way of meeting new people. I was using LJ for a long time (I still sync my entries there) and it just became too cliquey for me so I pulled back from it. Now I live in my own little world where I am much happier:-)
It is sad isn't it Claire that we all have so much to say and often to little of an audience. I think blogging can actually teach us to be better listeners.
i'm glad i do it, but i have a pretty boring hum drum life-i could delete my blog and be happy, but i'd be a commenting whore for sure then. I love reading other people's stories/lives....some are exciting, some are trashy (which can be good) but sometimes i feel like such a perv peeking in on them, and then there are those that forever touch your heart. those are the blogs i like reading-that's why i link 'em.
Yes, she/he/it should of turned off her comments if she didn't want any. Geez...friggin people. Anyway, thanks for linking me up and I will be doing the same with your blog once I finish paying the bills and cleaning...lol. Have a great weekend.
Peace,
JJ
LOVE the new look!!! My daughter has that psycho bunny on a bunch of her hot topic t-shirts. Very cute!
Yeah, do what Sirreene suggested--tell us who the uptight blogger is and we'll all be sure to stop by and give our two cents...
If someone doesn't want comments thier an idiot. I'd much rather hear an objective pov from someone I don't know than some bullshit from someone I do know.
y'know?
People are strange. I think it has more to do with wanting someone to say, "aw, sorry you are so miserable." Instead of someone saying...you know you create your own misery. Oh well...
Anyway, the blogosphere is a strange place and i have seen some whopping rows take place and people can be very funny about comments. I know of another blogger who as soon as anything that is the opposite of their view is said, gets really nasty with the readers.
Personally, as long as it isn't racist or hateful, I don't give a f*ck what people comment. I leave the facility there so I'm obviously inviting comments. I get a sh*tload of unsolicited advice but it doesn't bother me and I'm a grown woman and can make my own decisions and pick and choose what I don't want to pay attention to. However, I have come across a *lot* of bloggers getting very sensitive to the advice thing so I tread carefully.
Don't let it knock you and as I pointed out to the blogger, there was nothing but good intentions in your comment.
Blogging is fascinating. Immediacy, intimacy and very little small talk. Plus access to the inner thoughts of so many different types of people from all around the world. What's not to like?
I can't understand it...aww well...I enjoy comments! :)
Love the new look!
