Happiness

Once...

I was a child and a butterfly landed on my shoulder and fluttered its wings against my face...

I was ten and my father brought home a kitten he'd found by the side of the road and she licked my face every night before I went to sleep...

I was a teenager and a boy told me I was pretty..and I believed him...

I thought I was grown up enough to stand on my own...

And I was happy.

Six days ago I stood in front of friends and family and became a wife...a partner...a confidant...and still - I'm happy. I really do deserve this...and I believe that.

I have a few moments after cleaning to grab a few moments online and wanted to check in with you. Married...wow! I'm so happy for you! It looks like it was beautiful and I wish you many years of happiness and joy.

My parents got married in a church...but eloped. It was just the two of them, the minister and his wife. Fifty-seven years, six children and twelve grandchildren later, they're still going strong. It isn't a fancy ceremony that makes a marriage, but the sincere and lasting committment that endures through it all. Congratulations to you both! (And Alice and her baby-to-be, too!)
