I used to believe that only other people could buy you presents. After years of setting my expectations too high for what other people should give me, I finally realized that sometimes the best presents are the ones you give yourself. This necklace was my birthday present to myself. I didn't go searching for it, which kind of made it more special. It's a blue sapphire on a silver box chain which was made in Nigeria. Strange eh? I bought it because it came from a far away place - kind of like me. Some days I feel a million miles away from myself.

Sometimes, when I read you, I feel like your standing right next to me, or sitting right across from me, having a cup of coffee, and telling me you know exactly how I feel.
Because more often than naught, I know you do.
And that gift to yourself? Absolutely it can be the best type of gift of all...
Maybe the part your 'far away place' is a current longing for something eternal.
I've been looking for a necklace for myself as well, but I want it to be just right, and also have some interesting backstory. Hmmm, this sounds like I'm not just talking about a necklace.
I once read something that I'll never forget:
"If you want flowers, don't wait for someone else to bring them to you, go out into the garden and pick them yourself."
We usually carry joy inside ourselves and are the ones responsible for bringing it out. We are 90% our own happiness. But sometimes that other 10% is nice!
